WHAT THE !^*&# IS THIS $&*(@. There's really no good designs for Gen 5 at all.

I'll still play it though...

A little more edit: POKEMON ARE SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE ANIMALS CREATURES. NOT WHATEVER-THE-HELL RANDOM SHAPES THINGS THESE ARE. RARGHARAHRAGH.

Goddamn, these new Pokemon designs are a load of crap. Have you guys no concept of color unity?? What's going on with that grass-type's feet (and arms for that matter), did you just throw any sense of anatomy or structure out the window?? And why is that water-type so ugly goddamn? THAT IS NOT MARKETABLE.

I had a feeling of foreboding when Zoroa/Zoroark were released, but these starters just take it one step beyond lousy. Hoping they evolve into something totally awesome, otherwise no hope for next gen.

Well, aside from the fact that I could probably finally have a fitting Ganon for my Zelda team...

KOMBAT TIME

You probably haven't heard of the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe game. That's a silly idea, but hey, I like DC superheroes, I have nostalgia for Mortal Kombat, and they've got some decent ideas like making the gameplay cinematic at times. It's too bad the concept is so shoddily done in a number of ways including animation, character design, and more!

So I went to their official website to check out the high-res concept art/renders and holy crap, I'm lollin' here. Watch me nitpick the hell out of CG and other nerdery: )

The moral of the story: It's fine for you to take shortcuts on your CG; everybody does it all the time. But if you're going to release full-resolution images, then they better not show the flaws!

P.S. And while we're on the subject, you should check out these compilations of American cartoons based on popular fighting games, which I didn't even know existed. I'm sure that's for the better because at that age I would have gladly watched them. At first.

Well, I didn't drink, but not due to lack of intent I assure you.

That said, the people have spoken. If this is what they want, then they can have it. At least I am left with the peace of mind that no matter what kind of crap goes down in the next four years, America chose it fair and square. I won't whine or moan or howl in outrage, because I know now this is the mindset that the majority is willing to adopt. I will merely shake my head in the corner, and wait for next time. Perhaps by then, people will have seen the consequences of their ways, and change their minds. Perhaps they won't. Perhaps I will.

I'd be happy if I could do so, but I won't run away to another country (that is, if I had the means to do so in the first place). As enormously good as Canada or Australia looks right now, if everyone "in the right" left America in disgust, then there won't be anyone left to vote for what's "right" next time around. As meaningless as my vote is, I won't abandon it while there is still a chance for things to change.

The sun is up this morning, the sky is blue, the world will not end though it may be a bit tougher to put up with. This, too, will pass. Four years is a long time, but it has passed before and it will again.

Edit: No forgiveness for the pro-bigotry-and-hatred voters though. Burn, assholes.

Got newest issue of Reader's Digest in the mail. I usually only give the "Enrich Your Word Power" feature a cursory glance, never being very good at learning vocabulary from isolated, non-contextual lists. ^^;; But, what the hell is this?

At the holidays, you've probably got
kids hanging around the house--maybe
home from college for vacation. Do you
have one-way conversations because
you have no idea what they're saying?
Our quiz will give you the dope (info)
on how to talk their dope (cool) talk.

Quiz words include: "my bad", "whatevs", "wack", "bling-bling", "dis", "phat"...

Argh! Slang shouldn't be a part of anybody's vocabulary education! If you pick it up from conversation, fine, but I thought these features were supposed to help, I don't know, improve literacy?

Disclaimer: No personal hard feelings in the below post, except towards those responsible for the current state of "education" as shown.

An acquaintance has been asking me to help edit her college essay. Her writing is not... the best, for a 12th grader. Sad, but not anything I haven't seen before, especially online.

However, what's far more horrifying is where she's getting it from--or rather, NOT getting it from.

She's applying to my school, among her choices. If she gets accepted (or better yet, if she gets into the school I was rejected from), I will laugh SO hard.
