You all simply must check out this discussion on the newest Penny Arcade comic. Yes, Lisa, that means you.

...I needs me my Fah-bulous icon back for this one. XD

You know, I just finished my package of peanuts and was about to throw it away when I noticed this.

It wouldn't be nearly as wrong without the photos.

Durr...

Am giggling so hard at today's Penny Arcade. Especially because have a Bloom-loving friend who loves the movie XD

So I've been emulating playing the GBA Lord of the Rings games. They're pretty decent games for what they're worth, but they're also not free from their share of zany quotes. <g> Hope these screenshots aren't too small, they should be viewable on a non-ginormous screen like mine. =P

I'm sorry, did you just insinuate that the guards guarding the tunnel were GUARDING something?

What the... Elrond looks like a GIRL!

Prejudiced much, Leggy? (Actually Aragorn and Gimli also say this line, but it has the best effect coming from Legolas.)

Whee, a preview of the Extended DVD! Woah Gimli, getting a bit friendly are we?

That's gotta be an awfully awkward way to say "auto-revive".

Hugbies!!

And, the game uses a sort of D&D naming system, which now and then lends itself to hilarity:

Dwarf maidens look just the same as dwarf men. | Uhh... something's not right here... | Pseudo-contradiction =P

And the best for last: We know how fond the elves are of their dwarf axes.

And just for the heck of it, here's an extra random quote from the ghetto world of Pokemon Sapphire.

Went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner today (yesterday). I didn't like it as much as the places we usually go to, but aside from that, I got the lamest fortune ever:

When it is dark, you can see the stars.

Well, thank you for that meteorological insight. And when it is day, I can see the sun. Ingenious! That fortune's not even funny when appended with in bed. When it is dark, you can see the stars in bed. I suppose it's slightly suggestive if I pretend it's talking about movie stars, but even then it only offers the option of viewing. In the dark.

Anyway, that's my bit of nonsense for the week. Here's a pic I'm working on coloring. Trying out a colored pencil style with Painter, which I think might be fitting for this race of desert-dwelling people =)

Follow up.

Me: http://imdb.com/title/tt0311361/ Wow.
Me: Not only Jesus Christ and vampires, but kung-fu!
Diana: What?! It's a bleeding musical as well?!
Me: AND a musical!
Me: Fantabulous.

Diana: Have you seen the trailer?
Me: No. Do they have it for download?
Me: Oh my god.
Diana: You can watch it.

What are you waiting for? Go watch it! XD

Ira-ira.

Here's an item from the "Crime watch" section of the school newspaper a couple days ago:

Someone was reported as holding a
large black rifle on the corner of Gayley
Avenue and Kinross Avenue on Jan. 22.
Police investigated the report but found
the person to be holding an automotive
jack. Police advised the individual to
hold the instrument differently.

Arg, AIM "can't load my buddy list at this time". But it assures me that it "has not been lost". We'll see about that.

Arg, mom can't find SSN card at home, so I'm going to have to GO all the way to the office to APPLY for a new one and I'm gonna NEED all these documents I don't HAVE here so will have to get them MAILED from home. Getting a job's more trouble than it's worth.

At least I don't have anymore homework this week...

Edit: Reinstalled and upgraded AIM. Buddy list restored.

More from the physics lab manual:

"The previous 4BL course, which was taught, with little change for the last 20 years was very simple and easy. The new 4B Lab is designed to be more advanced and challenging." DAMMIT!

"The level of the class is slightly above the average material of the lecture class. The average student is unlikely to finish all of the assignments within a 3-hr lab session." DAMMIT!

On the other hand, this is really funny. "You have my Ford"

Nyahahaha. That's just what the guy deserves.

It's funny, I still have an unfinished crossstitch of a Thomas Kinkade painting in my room at home. It was one of the ones I found more pleasant because it didn't contain a cottage with manic glowy windows, only a stream with an unholy mass of flowers on its banks. I would finish it, too, ...if I didn't have better things to do in what free time I find. =P

From my physics lab manual:

"A Dell PC with a 1.7GHz Pentium 4 processor, 256 MB SDRAM, 20 GB hard drive, CR RW [sic] drive and 3.5" floppy drive, 17" monitor is provided. The operating system is Windows XP."

And this matters to the physics lab student... why?

"For security reasons, no connection to the Internet is provided."

Because we can't risk having hackers stealing the sensitive, top-secret data acquired from basic undergrad electromagnetic labs.

"If the data acquisition program freezes due to pressing the wrong buttons, simply close the file, exit from LabView, and start all over."

Ah, the splendors of Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Never leave home without it.

And the data-taking program apparently won't save results in a format that itself will read. We had to mess with the Excel files, edit the columns, re-label things, and save them as text files before it would analyze them. Bastard. XP

Umm... and here's a pic my brother made! =)

I'd like to thank the fire alarm for getting my butt up and out of bed on this bright, cheery morning. Truly a more welcoming, melodious departure from the land of dreams could not have been produced by hands of man, and my soul is further enriched for having greeted the sun at the blessed hour of seven am as it rose o'er our shivering, dumbly blinking countenances.

Well, I needed to get up to finish my lab anyway. ¬_¬

Plugged resume and portfolio with EA person. He said he'll pass it on to the art department, of course. Beh, no use anticipating the ... not-expect-able...

I don't think anybody who reads my journal watches Naruto, but I want to preserve this anyway. ^^ )

Math midterm? What math midterm?

Well, at the least, it is full of incomprehensible things and is a most bizarre source of amusement. )

I thank the heavens for my lovely lovely physics book from last quarter. ^^;

On another topic, I downloaded pretty mp3s of Chinese folk songs I used to love when I was younger. Ah nostalgia ::tear::

I guess Sushu's just about the only one who'd know what I was talking about if I rambled on further, so I'll stop here. ^^;

So we start watching "Full Metal Alchemy" in anime club. Like the name says, it's about two kids who do magic-like stuff under the guise of alchemy. Okay, BS premise, but whatever.

Until the fansub starts mentioning the Sorcerer's Stone.

Much hilarity (especially the newer one), not family-safe (especially the newer one).

I get such a kick whenever the dining hall serves "Hot Link Sausage."

(The "Hot Link Sandwich" isn't much better, either.)

(I never tried it though, it looks too spicy.)

For Lisa. Elwen, too. )

So I'm taking a glance through the sample ballot (English and Chinese compatible) that came in the mail. They're not kidding about EVERYONE in California running for governor. Here's a sampling of what kind of people are wanting this office:

Golf Professional (D)
Used Car Dealer (I)
Air Pollution Scientist (D)
Custom Denture Manufacturer (G)
Retired Meat Packer (I)
Firefighter Paramedic/Nurse (D)
Comedian (I)
Psychologist/Farmer (R)
Adult Film Actress (I)
Railroad Switchman/Brakeman (R)
University Chemistry Instructor (NL)
Film Maker (D)
Cigarette Retailer (L)
Middleweight Sumo Wrestler (I)
Software Engineer (D)
College Student (G)

I'm not saying that any of them shouldn't or couldn't be governor. I just find such diversity fascinating (and not the less amusing).

Speaking of which, I suppose I should register to vote... ^^;
