HP Tarot card progress - The Hermit

Man, I feel like a pandaing pandering furry artist. Thanks a lot, JKR.

Naturally, I was trying to capture a feeling of isolation. Do you guys think the one with a wider scale (bottom) is any better, or should I stick to focusing more on the character (top)? If you need reference, here are The Hermit cards from the Rider-Waite, Shadowscapes, and Tarot of the Magical Forest decks for an idea of the kind of image I need to go for.

(I don't want this picture to read as if it's The Star, after all...)

The bottom one works best for me, I think. In most of the decks I've seen, the hermit is looking down, suggesting to me introversion and closedness, and I wonder if that's what you're fighting against in your composition? (I'm sure there's other ways to do it).
