HP Tarot card - The Magician
So I should post Halloween pics, but instead I'm celebrating my freedom from costume-making to finally paint to my heart's content. The photos will come later.
So much detail D: I felt like I had to do Dumbledore justice though; the man's not going to put up with a boring bookshelf.

THIS IS THE MOST STILL LIFE I HAVE PAINTED IN YEARS.
Oh god those artifacts took so unnecessarily long. Gonna be EVEN MORE FUN when I paint them again for the court cards~ At least they'll be bigger then so you can actually see some of the details. P.S. I don't think it's a very good idea to put "rubies the size of eggs" in the hilt of a sword even if it's a decorative one. :\

But man, the goblet is so shiny. ::covets::

Just to find a nit, I think that one spot of the chain's shadow (the C-shaped part on the desk's top, right and down from the goblet's base) looks EVER SO SLIGHTLY too dark compared to the other shadows around it. Like it's the color of the shadow on the desk's side instead of the top or something. But it's invisible outside the close shot.

And yes, you're right about the shadow (and it's actually easy to fix!). I may fix it before I upload this to everywhere else tonight.

Also, is that really how they hold wands? With the index finger for support? Reminds me of how I used to play tennis with my wrist (because of badminton) -- recipe for carpal tunnel. =/

And no that is not how you should hold a wand unless you are as omni as Dumbledore. :P I wanted it to look like that for my own preference.
And you're still at work? かわいそう。
