HP Tarot thumbnails - Temperance; Hanged Man revised

Ahh, good ol' rim lighting makes everything look better.

"I think Dumbledore might have hoped I would be able to exercise some control over my best friends. I need scarcely say that I failed dismally." - Remus Lupin

"Yeah, well, you made us feel ashamed of ourselves sometimes... that was something..." - Sirius Black

Temperance focuses on balance and moderation between two extremes. I chose Remus Lupin for this card for his calming, voice-of-reason personality, as well as his constant struggle to reconcile the two opposing sides of his nature.

Notable art bits:
1. The traditional Temperance card has an angel pouring water between two cups to symbolize the mixing/equalizing of two forces... um, and stuff like that. Lupin is filling a goblet with the Wolfsbane Potion, which serves to temper the rage of his cursed side.

2. This was another tough idea to layout in my head. I had to cast two distinct shadows from two different directions and fit it into a logical space. Of course, the one from man-made firelight shows him as a human, and the one from the feral moonlight reflects the wolf within.

(Also, I wanted to have the orange/blue complementary colors like Shadowscapes does. It worked out about as well as I hoped :))

3. I should probably put a couple more things on the table. Maybe chocolaaaate :)

Also, corrected the color scheme for The Hanged Man.

Now it has a kind of dark gold/silver tone which I like much more. Still not quite Hanged Man-ish, but at least it's no longer evocative of any of the other cards :) Will probably evolve further once I work on the final painting.

*thumbs up on new color scheme* It reminds me of the X tarot's Hanged Man, even though there's no pink.

I like the symbolism in your Temperance, though the heavy thumbnailing does make the wolf-shadow rather indistinct... is that a shadow or a pair of imperial stormtroopers? And your new Hanged Man makes me think Snape's being nommed by a giant Metroid...

Har, I'm not the only one who saw the Metroid. No worries, plenty of refinement to go into it. Same for the wolf-shadow which is all full of hand-wavy anyway.
