I should... do my art homework...

Added more revisions to the Decker pencil art, and you know what? That's me at home, right there =D

Does anybody have any opinions or advice or anything to say on Cafepress? Would it be worthwhile for me to sell art prints from there? Would you buy from there? How's their quality? Looks like a better deal than Kinko's, at least. Any merchandise you want to buy with my art on it, besides posters? =D And would it even be legal? (No. Can I get away with it?)

I don't know about other people, but I would buy. That is, if I had the means to buy stuff with. And I don't. That sucks.

It would be awesome if you could get away with it. Especially if you could get away with it long enough for me to get money and buy stuff.

Merchandise. Hmm. Kirby on a t-shirt. Marth and Roy Kirbys (or whatever the plural of Kirby is), definitely. Or maybe just Marth and Roy, because they're so much better than everyone else. Oh, looky, I'm getting off track.

To sum all this up, it's a nice idea, but probably not very legal, and therefore not a very good idea, even though it's nice. Nice is not the same as good, so I am not contradicting myself, because in my world, I dictate what the words mean. Ha.

Mmmkay, since my topic train just derailed, I am officially allowed to go snatch some other topic and derail it, but I don't feel like it. If you can make something of this message, good for you! Betcha couldn't if I was writing down, cause my handwriting sucks, and that's why I love it.

Thanks for your support. =) Actually I was just pondering to myself about where I can get good quality larger-size prints, since I'm not feeling very satisfied with Kinko's. Now that I look at it, selling stuff outta Cafepress is kinda silly for a fanartist. ^^; I really need to just dig out the Yellow Pages...

I've ordered things off of Cafepress before and have never had a problem with it. I know [livejournal.com profile] jeykama has sold some of his Zelda fanart via Cafepress, but I think the legality of selling fanworks is pretty iffy (well, probably non-existant). There are a lot of fanartists/authors out there selling merchandise, so it's pretty obvious that you can get away with it, though.

As for the kind of merchandise I'd buy: if we're talking about fanart, I'd go for the posters and cards, not the t-shirts and mugs. I don't think I'd want to watch a favorite piece of fanart get faded by the dryer.... ;)

p.s.

Sorry for the double post, but I just wanted to ask if it's okay that I've friended you. I know some people feel weird about having their LJs friended by a lot of other people. 'Saright?

Yeah, I got the idea from Jey's post, actually. I took a glance through Cafepress to see if I could find her store, but didn't come across it. (Maybe private stores are not displayed?) But ah, I don't think I'll go that route anyway.

Of course I don't mind being friended =) The more the merrier.
