You know what it is time for some ART POST

Well, winter break time's over and I didn't get done basically any of the projects I set aside to do "over winter break" (Sorry [livejournal.com profile] ctrl_a, I'm afraid that FF logo is too complicated and scary for me.) but at least I didn't completely waste my time sitting on my ass!

Discovered these figure drawing workshops on CGTalk that provide really really nice model photos. Wish I had looked into them earlier, maybe I'd have squandered a little bit less of last quarter... or not. Anyway, foot is weak spot but hand is good.

Progression in which you see how I paint well but sketch like crap

And this:

She's still wearing the Sailor fuku under that dress, I just thought I'd modify this into a portfolio-able piece as well. Revamped the layout majorly and I think it's fairly improved. Reminds me just a teeny tiny bit of Chinese brush painting flavor?

^^; -Biiig sweatdrop- The cords were... kinda a joke for my technology teacher/boss man. I only showed it because it's the only thing I've tried to do in a painty-style. ^^;;

Willing to learn is not the problem--it's lack of a teacher (and/or the inability to weasle my way into having an art class in my schedule. ;_; No room around my requireds.) You can only get yourself so far by studying (or staring intently) at other works/surroundings, no? (I could be wrong. What do I know? I'm only a highschooler.)

O_O; Nudie lady. Now I'm scared both at the fact she's nudie and at how accurate your artwork of her was. So, yep, you made me more scared. ^^;

Quite true, there's only so much you can get out of studying other pictures, but that actually is a lot if you are observant. Better yet, learn from tutorials online! Here (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=226083), here (http://www.sumaleth.com/links), and here (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=196480) are some big lists just to start with, on all subjects and methods and levels. Also, here are some high-quality art forums full of skilled artists who will give critique and advice to each other (and you!):

CGTalk (http://forums.cgsociety.org/)
Sijun (http://forums.sijun.com/)
ConceptArt (http://conceptart.org/forums/)

Hope that's enough to get you started, if you're interested. G'luck!

^^; Yes, Nendil-sensei! Will do, Nendil-sensei!

... as soon as I finish this goshdang HUGE project I've re-done like four times... 'cause I don't want to start over AGAIN... heh...

And... maybe I'll hit the forums... maybe not... -kinda shy about forums, is red to the ears with blushing-

Take your time =) No use in rushing art.

You don't even need to participate in the forums if you're shy (like me) - you can learn a whole lot even just by lurking and looking at other people's art and feedback!

:D I actually don't have that much left, thankfully! It's just the background... which is peacock feathers... so... er... I expect I might get done... oh, I just give up expecting things! ^^;!

Oooh, now there's a thought. -smacks her own forhead for her silliness-

Nendil-Sensei?! Shy?! @.@ The concept eludes me!
