Concurrently upgrading and abusing my eyes
So it looks like I'm getting LASIK on Friday. We (that is mom and me) meant to just go in for checkup/testing appointments today and see how compatible my eyes were and how we felt about the whole thing, but Dr. Furlong's crew were so shiny and competent-seeming that we just couldn't resist. Or sommat. Come to think of it it is kind of freakishly abrupt ^^;; but then, mom did have the insurance money set aside and it'd go to waste if I didn't get this done.
On the other hand, we (that is brother and me) rented Paper Mario 2 and are having a blast. Even though we've played it nonstop for two days, we're not even halfway through. It's a big and plentiful game full of charming surprises, and so far it runs no risk of becoming too formulaic like the first game did. Love the battle dynamics too, especially how you have to pay attention in battle more than ever and how they came up with so many more creative ways to execute the Mario RPG fight system.
Need to setup my new laptop (for bringing to China) with all my (~50 gigs of) files and programs. Oy vey, moving's never easy.
I like the sound of the new LJ tags system (because goodness knows I'm all for self-plugging) but I don't want to switch to S2 and lose my custom comment links. And I think it looks uglier. Drat to that. ^^;
Edit: Brand new laptop that was out of my hands for about a week, ~50 pieces of spyware! Oh the woes of clueless parents+siblings. I don't want to leave my current darling Dell to their mercies, even if it might not be my main compy anymore =(

Thumbs up!
Ooo, new laptop, eh? Sweet! Let's all have a round of love for the laptops...! Right up until you actually transfer the stuff. :'D That's never fun. But I have to ask... how the HECK can you have fifty GIGS of files?! Jeez, that'd like... fill my harddrive...
And what's up with laptops and China? My friend got a laptop herself for use when she and her family live in China during the summer... deja vu... yeesh.
... It took a week to get rid of fifty pieces of spyware? o.o... wow, what's up with that? We had over a thousand on our slow-as-rocks computer and it took us only about a day to repair three-years-ish of damage... or did you have viruses on top of that? >.> I'll just shut my mouth now, my geekiness is showing...
XD Whew, my reply was almost as long as your post... ha, wordy is as wordy does!
Re: Thumbs up!
Anime episodes, my good friend. Stuff I need to watch-then-delete but rarely ever get around to. Also, a bazillion MP3s of game soundtracks. ;P
It took a week to accumulate 50 pieces of spyware, not rid. Still tragic. Poor lappy.

I think it was longer if you don't count the Edit ;)
