Still ranting.

After scrutinizing the trailer, I see what's wrong with the animation: since the game is using Wind Waker's engine, the action mechanics are still the same. And what physics worked for little cartoony Link, certainly don't look right with grown-up, real, weighty Link. I sure hope they fix that. Given the amount of detail in the graphics alone, THEY'D BETTER I'm sure they will. >_>

Also, I can't see enough to be sure, but Epona's model and animation look a bit off to me, especially since I had just checked out a book on animal painting and anatomy from the library. But I'm in no position to criticize right now.

It looks like the fire arrows scene takes place in the Lost Woods, what with all the sparkles in the air. I wonder what will/have happened to the Kokiri?

Allow me to rant about the artwork a bit more: usually when I see concept art for a video game (at least, for most game manual illustrations), I tend to think "Oh, they're good with Photoshop", but remain generally unsurprised with the creative technique. ("I can put an artistic spin to that. Fanart time!") But this. This is farkin' art. Look at the colors and the textures and the brushstrokes, Jesus. This is exactly the kind of art I aspire to doing someday.

All I pray is that Nintendo doesn't neglect the storyline even with all the eye candy, and THEY'D BETTER NOT I'm sure they won't. >_> Some Link/Zelda development would be nice too ;-)

Quick notes on other parts of Nintendo's presentation:

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - I see Nintendo still isn't done with its "evil twin" running theme. I fully expect to see a Dark Fox and Dark Kirby in their next games. XP

Starfox - Haven't played enough of the games to judge well, the characters' models look kinda weird... They sure put a jammin' soundtrack to it though =P

Resident Evil 4 - The guy looks kinda too pretty-boy to be in a survival horror game, but whatever. I've seen another very well-presented Japanese game with a similar story, and RE better match up with their mood and storytelling.

GBA pwnz0rs PSP and everything else oh yeah 8-)

Oo, Paper Mario 2 does look nifty. The first game bored me very much, but I'd be willing to give it one more chance.

Donkey Donkey Revolution!

Mario Pinball looks hilarious XD I want to emulate

Holy cow, how did they cram all that hardware into a tiny DS package? o.O

Hahaha, that Shigeru Miyamoto's such a crazy guy. ::shwing::

I think I mostly like how functional the designs are. Those are BOOTS that make sense!! and CHAIN MAIL! Wonder when that happened, though. Also muchly like the crosshatching

The functionality is pretty cool, though I wonder if they'll go all the way and finally have the boy lug around a big old bag for all of his crap equipment.

functionality doesn't exclude hammerspace. Plus his weight allow must be massive.

Like this (http://www.melorasworld.com/zelda/gallery/1ttlink.html)!

Well, the artwork (and model) does show a hipbag of sorts. I bet it'll be like the cartoon where he shrinks his stuff and sticks it in there =P

This game seems to hark back to the cartoon (and other old skoolness) a tad more than I would expect, in fact. The excessive sword twirl before he sheathes his sword, for instance. Somebody else pointed out that the castle looks like the one in the cartoons instead of just a Lego construct, though I'm not sure about that. And the brownish pants.

D00d, imagine what Zelda'll look like.

I think the thing that gets me the most is the knotted belt, which I've only before seen in LotR (me being the sheltered little fangirl that I am in regards to historical schtuff). And it's like dude... they cut no corners. Same thing with the um... "support strap" for his scabbard.

Epona's even properly bridled and burdened and stuff... ::wipes tear::

You're forgetting Animal Crossing DS.

Portable, wireless, internet-compatible Animal Crossing. You know you need it.

Ahaha, no, I didn't let Animal Crossing drag me into its maw the first time, I won't let it happen this time. Obsessing over Zelda will kill my GPA more than adequately, thank you.
