This is the only reason I play Pokemon, it seems.

Pokemon Heart Gold is coming in the mail! I was totally not going to buy it, but then I came up with a themed team that I just have to play through the game with.

Well you see, the default name for the female trainer character is "Lyra", so of course I had to run with that. And it turned out to be a pure Gen-2 (plus evolutions) team too!

1. Pantalaimon
Technically a Furret would be more fitting, but it's my STARTER! Best buddy! First pokemon ever! (Plus, Furret is useless)

2. Serafina Pekkala
Flyer. Eventually replaced with...

2b. Balthamos
I raised that Togepi egg so dedicatedly in the original game and it turned out to be useless. Not any longer!

3. Chevalier Tialys
Because he has a Poison Sting. Eventually replaced with...

3b. Lady Salmakia
She's, uh, riding the Yanmega, you just can't see her?

4. Iorek Byrnison
The ass-kicker. Traded over as an egg because it's a Silver-version exclusive.

5. Zalif
Elephants on wheels :D

6. Lee Scoresby
This is a lame stretch, but I really needed something for Water-type HMs. Of course he'd be better off as a or even but at least Mantine is very much Gen-2. :)

(I also have a slightly different team of the same theme for doubles competition, but I'm not going to go into that. :P)

Can't wait for all the further wacky teams I'll be able to make come Gen-5 later this year. :P

(What happens if your daemon's true form is a fish? What happens when you choose to have your Wailord follow you around? o.o)

Did one of the gypsies have a fish-daemon in the books? I don't have any of them here so I may be wrong.

Beats me, I hardly remember the books that well. I suppose if you were in that situation you'd just have to live on the water? At least fish pokemon can mysteriously hover in the air.

I'm pretty certain that there was a bit in the books about fish daemons, and how the people with fish daemons had to live at sea. I guess if your daemon was a fish then you'd want to be a sailor anyway though.

And this idea looks fun :D

Yeah... wasn't there something about dolphin daemons? (Clearly I remember the books just as poorly as everyone else.) Sea otter daemon. :]

What have they done to Togepi now? O_o

Wasn't it a scene where Pan turned into a dolphin to play with other dolphins?

What have they done to Togepi now? O_o

Made it kick-ass (http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/togekiss), that's what. :P

Yes, I think you're right. So, if a daemon got fixed in that form... there you go: water-bound daemon.

Also, I love going around town in Mystery Dungeon as a Wailord. XD
