It's E3 again, day 1

O so no more boomerang?  And no more "induction" charging?  What a shocker. ;)

O so Sony controller does what Nintendoes?  Who didn't see that coming?  EH EH? (Edit: And yet none of the game trailers used... the ... the motion... functions)

$500 bux lol (Edit: That's $500 with the smaller hard drive. $600 otherwise. Wait... 40 gigs of hard drive does not cost $100!)

PS3 games shore are purty.  I'll edit on those more when I get time to look at the media.

Edit: All right here we go.
Heavenly Sword: I've heard this being nicknamed "Goddess of War". But God of War was decent so that's decent news too. Non-bimbo girl character = auto-points for me =P

Too many racing games =\

Afrika actually sounds kinda fun because whee real animals!

On the pre-Nintendo front:

Twilight Princess confirmed (?) to have Gamecube and Wii editions.  Time magazine has screenshot with Wii button interface.  That... hmm, that actually sucks if I'll have to buy the same $50 game twice. >:O  Will probably pass on the Wii version barring further developments.

Translation for people too busy building Ditch Day to read reports? ._.

I would be sad about the PS3 price, but I will be too poor either way. Also, "$500 bux" is redundant. :P

The PS3 controller is a Dual Shock that charges by plugging in a wire. It also has "six degrees of motion" capabilities not at all like a Wii

In other news, Final Fantasy XIII (http://www.clubskill.com/Game_News/3297/First%20screens%20of%20Final%20Fantasy%20XIII!) is really shiny.

It is, but it looks like an action RPG. >_< Hopefully it's not, as it sure would suck to have to scroll through all those spells in real-time. Maybe it's just like an updated Chrono Trigger...

But whatever happened to FFXII anyway? o.O?

it sure would suck to have to scroll through all those spells in real-time.

Kingdom Hearts (which I've been playing) has an okay system for that. Not the most ideal system, but workable. I dunno how well it'd work with the huge amounts of magic in FF games but, eh, you know. Maybe you can tilt the controller to select spells or something.

FFXII is also, like, an action RPG. Something like that.

Kingdom Hearts' system was . . . bearable . . . but my problem with action RPGs is that I tend to panic or otherwise stop thinking in the middle of intense battles, and that leads to button-mashing, which is okay when you're just hacking and slashing, but not so good when you're trying to choose, target, and cast spells. I think .hack has a similar thing, and I didn't handle that too well either. I prefer the button combo approach, like in the Tales games, but that doesn't work as well in 3D environments. And even if casting spells is okay, using items is always teh suck.

But what platform is FFXII for? Is it ever coming out in the US?

*does some quick Googling*

... I see. So it has a battle system copied from KH and .hack -- or maybe all action RPGs just seem the same to me -- and consists of a host of blond characters with stupid, misspelled-looking names. And . . . Hume? Archadia? Ivalice? Apparently Square hasn't recovered from the silver-haired triplets in Advent Children. -_-

Someday, Square will make another Final Fantasy for me. In the meantime, I'll continue the quest for a rank 40 weapon in Disgaea.

Seriously going to bed now...

The trailer I've seen, I'm not sure - it looks menu driven to me. It looks like you have a set number of action points each turn, which you use to build up a chain of commands/spells/actions, which you then execute in some stylish display. I think that has potential to be awesome!

Well, I picked up the game for the boyfriend today, so I guess I'll find out soon enough. :)

Oh, I meant FFXIII. :) Do tell how FFXII is though, for the longest time I thought it'd be sucky, but last I saw it actually looked like it could be awesome.
